Carbon Capture and Storage – a major new business opportunity
CO2DeepStore Ltd is a UK-based company specifically focussed on the cost effective, safe and long term storage of industrial volumes of CO2 - a process referred to as carbon capture and storage or CCS. The need for this driven by the growing global imperative for immediate and sustained reduction of CO2 emissions to mitigate climate change.

The company aims to be a license holder and operator of deep geological CO2 storage facilities located in depleted gas fields and large saline aquifers, taking responsibility for keeping the CO2 safely stored within the earth
Founded by 4 ex-oil industry executives, the company is leveraging experience from the offshore oil and gas sector to evaluate, deliver and operate deep geological CO2 storage on a commercial basis in the UK, Europe and elsewhere.

The presentation will cover the following:

  • Climate change – a review of the key science that demonstrates why we have to act

  • Context – where does CCS sit alongside renewables, biofuel, offsetting schemes and the like

  • Overview of the emerging (and enormous) UK market

  • Current state of play regulations, laws and international agreements

Ian Phillips, C.Eng, M.Eng, MBA, FEI - Director of CO2 Infrastructure, CO2DeepStore Ltd.
