Scottish Annual Dinner,
MacDonald Roxburgh Hotel,
Edinburgh

Friday 9th November 2007

This year’s Dinner was once again a very successful evening enjoyed by over 100 guests that attended. An excellent 3 course dinner was served. Sandra Cassels chairman of the Scottish Committee welcomed all guests and before dinner was served she said Grace. After the starter the first of the evenings speakers made their speech. Geoff Gillies Lead Analyst, European Upstream Research at Wood Mackenzie gave an excellent industry overview. Once the main course, dessert and coffee had been served the speeches continued. The next speech came from the EIC’s new chief executive Mike Major. He spoke about what the EIC had been up to in the past year and what the future plans are for the EIC. After Mike’s speech our after dinner speaker Jim Leishman took to the stage. Jim gave an excellent speech which included some quirky stories from his long and varied career in football. He also read a few of his own poems which he is very well known for. After Jim’s Speech Arlene Ray a fundraiser from the Scottish EIC’s chosen charity CHAS gave an overview of what CHAS does. This lead very nicely on to the charity raffle which Jim Leishman and Arlene Ray picked and handed out the prizes. Jim Leishman felt one of the prizes should be auctioned off. It was a signed Wayne Rooney shirt which was auctioned for £700, Roger and Claire Mills were the lucky winners. We have had lots of positive feedback regarding this years dinner with the night being haled a great success!
