UK Pavilion at OTC

 The world's largest offshore event was held May 5-8 2008 at the Reliant Park in Houston. Attendance at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) reached 75,092, a 26-year high, as energy professionals from 110 countries met to learn about the latest technology to find and produce offshore oil and natural gas resources.
Attendance increased 11 percent from 2007. With more than one-half million square feet of exhibition area, the show included 2,500 companies from more than 35 countries in an area the size equivalent of 13 football fields. The theme for this edition of OTC was Waves of Change.
The Energy Industries Council (EIC) were delighted with the UK presence which also reached a record high with over 110 companies represented in the UK and Scottish national pavilions. Bookings for space in the UK group at OTC 2009 opened at 11h00 on the last day of the exhibition and by the close of the same day, the EIC had received applications for 80% of the space!
Malcolm Wicks, UK Energy Minister visited OTC on the opening morning and spoke to companies in the UK Group. It is believed that he was extremely happy with the visit. UK Trade & Investment put together a full program of briefings, most of which were breakfast briefing meetings for the benefit of UK companies, as well as the famous reception which was held on  Monday 5th May, at the Hilton Post Oak. It was a successful evening of networking, drinks and delicious food, where Exhibitors were able to meet with industry professionals.

Technology will be crucial to delivering affordable and sustainable energy for the future. OTC offers the chance to share knowledge about getting resources in harsher and more extreme conditions, and to discuss important industry issues," said Don Vardeman, 2008 OTC chairman.
