The UK GroupEIC celebrates ten years at OTC - the world's largest offshore event

Attendance at the 2007 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) reached a 25-year high to 67,155, as offshore professionals from 110 countries met to learn about the latest technology to develop more oil and natural gas resources from beneath the ocean. The world’s largest offshore event was held 30 April-3 May at Reliant Park in Houston.

Attendance for 2007 increased 13% from 59,236 attendees in 2006. For the first time, OTC’s exhibition expanded into the adjacent Reliant Stadium to add more outdoor exhibit space. The show included nearly 2,400 companies from more than 30 countries, up from 2,229 in 2006. Total exhibit space was nearly 530,000 square feet, about the size of 13 football fields.

"The impressive increase in attendance reflects the strong state of the industry and the demand for advanced technology that allows us to find new resources in deeper water and harsher environments. The technical conference also allowed professionals to share solutions that will improve our ability to supply clean, affordable and abundant energy in the face of increasing global demand,” said Arnis Judzis, 2007 OTC chairman.

UK Trade & InvestmentThe UK presence at this year’s event was also its largest in recent years. More than 100 UK companies were based in the UK and Scottish Pavilions and demand for exhibit space for OTC 2008 has already outstripped supply with the EIC organised UK Group a sell out just one week after the close of OTC 2007.

“Excellent activity on the booth, first rate work by the contractors and his team for build up.  Fantastic organisation from the EIC team”.
Infield Systems Ltd, Quentin Whitfield.

Brilliant support from EIC and very smooth organisation.  Being on the UK Group enables companies to be in a central position in the Reliant Center, which would not be possible otherwise.”
19th World Petroleum Congress (ITE), Fred Malgoire.

“Swamped with interest from current & future customers from across the globe.”
Advanced Sensors, Khalid Thabeth.

The group on the yachtUK Group participation at OTC also offered exhibitors a full programme of events designed to help them maximize their presence at the show.  UK Trade & Investment arranged an important series of breakfast meetings, luncheon seminars and the ever popular evening reception where industry leaders met with UK companies in an informal setting.

To celebrate our tenth year of organising the UK Group at OTC together with EIC Houston’s eleventh anniversary, we hosted a thank you party prior to the show aboard a yacht for all exhibitors in this year’s group.  All who attended agreed that it was a relaxing way to prepare for the hectic schedule of the week ahead.
