Mustang Presentation & AGM

Clyde & Co, London

Thursday 24 April 2008

The AGM was preceded by an over-subscribed presentation from Mustang who shared with us their company ethos and gave a valuable insight into how they work and how you can work with them on projects.

Two presenters from Mustang were Stewart Highett and Matthew Warne.

Stewart Highett, Business Development Manager for Mustang London, responsible for the Eastern Hemisphere. His background is in electrical instrumentation engineering and 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.

Matthew Warne is the Purchasing Manager for heavy industries across various fields – including construction of onshore/offshore oil and gas facilities, waste-to-energy systems, desalination and chemical plants, process equipment, and civil infrastructure projects. Matthew runs the team of purchasers and is based in the Woking office.

Stewart gave an overview presentation of the company; where Mustang fits within the Wood Group, the offices in London, Houston, Perth and Mumbai and their working ethos and company cultural values. This all gave a vivid picture of the type of company they were – very people and family oriented - and the type of company with whom they would like to work.

Matthew gave an in-depth insight into how to work with Mustang, their purchasing decision route and how to get onto their vendors’ list. Members who attended were given knowledge first hand on how to ‘tick the right boxes’ for Mustang.

The AGM followed after a short break where Mike Major, speaking for the first time as Chief Executive of The EIC, with his motto “members first!” being foremost in the minds of everything we do.

As well as giving information about changes in the company structure and the strategy for 2010, Mike spoke about the basic philosophy for the organisation:

  • To deliver effective membership services
  • To strengthen the links between the members, the Board and the management and staff
  • To enhance and develop new services to members
  • To create a virtuous circle (the cycle of better services attracting more members and, therefore, more revenue to use to help members)
