Network Lunch with Huntsman 14th September 2006
On the morning of the 14th September, 71 delegates were expected
to attend the latest in the Network Lunch calendar of events in
the Northern Region. The M62 however had other plans and around
a dozen of the delegates were unable to make the presentation due
to the motorway being closed after an accident.
For those that did beat the traffic, Andy Teague, Project Director
of the Huntsman LDPE plant at Wilton, provided an interesting and
amusing presentation, covering a brief history of this family owned
Chemical giant, growth and investment by the company in its Teesside
facilities and the perils of inviting dignitaries to officially
launch projects! He gave a detailed insight into the progress of
construction and components of the LDPE plant and went on to explain
that the various photos of holes in his presentation were a result
of sending a Civil Engineer out with a camera! Andy's presentation
was followed by a 3 course meal at the St. George Hotel and there
was opportunity for delegates to speak with Andy on a one-to-one
basis afterwards.
Prior to the Network Lunch, the Northern Region Committee met to
discuss, amongst other items, the shape of the events calendar for
the region over the coming months. New ideas and proposals were
debated as well as an update on the some of the immediately forthcoming
events - the Golf Day at Woodham on 21st September is fully booked,
Network Lunch with
Alstom Power on 12th October, Network Lunch with the Health
& Safety Executive on 11th December and the Northern Region
Annual Dinner taking place on 1st March 2007 at the Museum of Science
& Industry, Manchester. Copies of the Minutes and Industry News
