EIC Fusion - The Nuclear Supply Chain Event of the Year

Thursday 8th June 2006

Hartlepool Historic Quay

The sun was shining all day at Hartlepool’s Historic Quay, which added to the splendid day enjoyed by the speakers and delegates attending EICFusion.

100 delegates from across the UK gathered to hear an introduction from Mark Treasure, Plant Manager at British Energy’s Hartlepool Power Station. Mark welcomed us all to Hartlepool, spoke on the current nuclear climate and informed us of the long term plans for Hartlepool Power Station. For the remainder of the morning, delegates entered onto a “carousel” system, listening to presentations given by British Energy, Mitsui Babcock Energy Ltd., UKAEA and Costain Nuclear. Over lunch all delegates and speakers had the opportunity of taking a trip across the gangplank onto the HMS Trincomalee, permanently docked at the Museum and Britain’s oldest floating warship. During the afternoon session carousel, delegates enjoyed presentations from BNG Project Services, AMEC NNC, Aker Kvaerner Engineering Services and RWE NUKEM. After each of the day’s presentations there was time for questions from the floor and networking with the speakers. Most of our speakers stayed with us all day and also took the opportunity to listen in on the presentations.

Speaking after the event, Martin Manning of Tyco Fire & Integrated Solutions said “thank you for all the effort you put into EIC Fusion. From my point of view all the right players were put in front of me and I’m sure that goes for most of the delegates there. I thought it was tremendous. I made some very good contacts.”

EICFusion was sponsored by British Energy and we would like to pass on our thanks to them for helping provide such an informative event which allowed delegates a unique opportunity to hear from eight of the main players in the nuclear supply chain today.

Delegates have been sent a feedback form and we would like to take this opportunity to remind them to complete and return their forms to the Northern Region Office by Thursday 6th July. Presentations from EICFusion are available below.
