EIC Dubai Spring Ball

On the 9th March this year the Marriott Courtyard Green Community was the venue for the EIC Dubai Office inaugural “Spring Ball”.

Just over 80 guests joined the EIC for this black tie event at which 42,000 AED (circa £6000) was raised for The Al Noor Centre for Special Needs Children in Dubai. Our thanks go to HSBC our very kind sponsors of this event and to Arabian Sports Investments who donated the prizes for the charity auction namely:-

• A signed Chelsea football shirt
• A Manchester United signed OPUS
• Two tickets to the Manchester United/Chelsea Premiership football match at Stamford Bridge.

In addition we would also like to thank Jim Graham from R&M Electrical, Marriott Courtyard and Mark Williamson from Hertel (UK) Ltd for the donation of prizes that were drawn on the night.

It was nice to see our EIC members from BEL Valves, Corus Middle East, Hertel (UK) Ltd and R Stahl Middle East FZE to name but a few having such a good time, dancing to the sounds of Roger Paine “Young Roge” from Dubai Radio 2 till the wee small hours.

A sumptuous dinner was served in line with the “spring” theme with a main course of roast rack of lamb. Several EIC events have been held at the Marriott Courtyard and we are pleased to say that we have never been disappointed with their fantastic cuisine. The event was such a resounding success that HSBC have agreed to sponsor the event again so we very much hope that the “Spring Ball” in March 2008 will be an even bigger and better event not to miss!!

Whilst the Ball took place some time ago and although the actual funds were paid over to Al Noor at the time, we were awaiting the opening of their new purpose built centre before recording the presentation with a “large” PR cheque from HSBC. Terry Willis was unable to attend as he was travelling, so Julie went along as an able substitute and was joined by representatives from HSBC together with Michael Bovey from BEL Valves who outbid everybody to become the proud owner of the Manchester United OPUS, which was later signed by squad members of the MUFC Championship winning squad. After the presentation, everybody was invited to undertake a short tour around their state of the art new facility which was very impressive.
