Scottish EIC Clay Pigeon Shoot
Friday 25th August 2006
Seals Cove Shooting Ground, Aberdeen
As
most people know by now the Scottish office team are always enthusiastic
to try new things. On the 25th August the very first Scottish EIC
Clay Pigeon Shoot took place at Seals Cove Shooting Ground. With
36 bookings the event was sold out with a waiting list! Companies
taking part included Apache, BP, Chevron Texaco, ConocoPhillips,
Petrofac, Siemens, Shell and Wood Group. With companies like these
in attendance networking opportunities were strong!
Once everyone had congregated at the shooting ground
in the afternoon they were split in to 4 groups with 9 people per
group. Each group was assigned their own instructor. With the sun
shining and a sea view we could not have asked for better weather
or location. The groups had mixed experience from absolute beginners
to some who had shot previously. One attendee managed to shoot four
clay rabbits in a row, the most difficult shooting target. There
were four different shooting ranges that each group tried, the whole
experience lasted around two and half hours.
The
shooting instructors were very thorough in their instruction which
allowed the most inexperienced shooters to get the hang of it pretty
quickly. Whether guests hit 3 clays or 20 clays, everyone had an
excellent time. Although we were blessed with good weather initially,
towards the end of the afternoon it did get a little cooler and
most people dashed to get a warm jacket!
To finish off what was a perfect afternoon, guests
were treated to a BBQ back at the log cabin. The food was excellent
with a range of things to choose from. To add a bit of fun and competition
to the afternoon, there was a small prize giving for the team who
shot the most targets and for the individual that shot the most
clays. The best team was Siemens and the best individual was Murray
Forsyth from Shell who shot 20 out of 25 clays.
This event has had some excellent feedback. It was
suggested by more than one guest that we should make this into an
annual event. On the back of this positive feedback we have decided
that we will run one in the central belt in 2007 and there is a
strong possibility we will run one in Aberdeen again.
