The UK group at Caspian Oil & Gas 2006
6 - 9 June 2006
Baku, Azerbaijan
The Caspian Oil & Gas Show was held from 6 - 9 June 2006 in
the Heydar Aliyev Sports Complex, Baku.
The
UK group was represented by 11 companies; Baku Fluid System Technologies
Ltd, Bridon International Ltd, Briggs Environmental Services Ltd,
Chalmit Lighting, Intetech Ltd, James Walker & Co Ltd, Koso
Kent Introl, MacLean Electrical Group; Scopus Engineering Ltd; Tracerco
and E W Wachs.
The exhibition was held under the aegis of the President of the
Azerbaijan Republic His Excellency Mr. Ilham Aliyev who personally
took part in the opening of the exhibition on the 6th of June.
Officially supported by the Azerbaijan Ministry of Energy and Industry
plus the State Oil Company of Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), the
organisers of the event were the Chamber of Commerce and Industry
of Azerbaijan plus an international exhibition company ITE Group
Plc which is London based with an operating office based in Baku.
The prime sponsor of the exhibition and conference was the Russian
Company, LUKOIL. Others included: BP, Bos Shelf, ConocoPhillips,
Dallas & Co, Global Union Energy Ventures Ltd, Michael Wilson
& Partners, McDermott, Salans, Statoil, Total, Caspian Energy
Centre, Enterprise Centre and AZAL.
For this year, the exhibition assembled 360 companies from 33 countries
which represented a 15% growth in the event. In addition to our
UK Group, there were also national pavilions from Italy, Germany,
Russia, and Poland, thus providing a truly international flavour
for the event.

Occupying three pavilions of the complex, the full spectrum of the
oil and gas industry was featured, covering most aspects of upstream,
midstream and downstream technologies. Visitor numbers, according
to the organisers were significantly up and members of the UK group
all provided feedback which generally alluded to a good quality
of visitors stopping by their stands.
Once more, we were pleased to have some quality entertainment provided
for us by Scopus Engineering who, even the President of Azerbaijan
himself, remembered from previous events.
Testimonial
We exhibited for the first time at the COGS this year. The support
from EIC in practical terms (stand provision/freight etc) was excellent
but more importantly
1) we had a good position in the main hall - if you're going to
exhibit its a location location location issue.
2) EIC provided named contacts, phone numbers and email addresses
of the key contacts we needed to make in the local companies. This
allowed us to make contact with key personnel resulting in a meeting
outside of the exhibition. We subsequently obtained a PO which adequately
covered our expenses for attending the exhibition.
We could not have hoped for better.
Dr Liane Smith, Intetech
Ltd
The dates for the Show next year have been set for June 5th
to the 8th June 2007.
