The 30 UK companies who joined the UK Group at the show exhibited amongst and met with key players in Brasil’s offshore industry and allied industries. The delegation was organised by UKTI, EIC, SDI and the British Council in Rio de Janeiro. Such a joined up approach ensured that companies from a variety of specialisms could participate effectively and importantly, could choose from a range of participation options, be it visiting or exhibiting or a combination of the two. All benefited from the media interest that such a large delegation commanded, facilitated by the Consulate in Rio de Janeiro’s press and public affairs department.
Other benefits to joining the official UK delegation included a portuguese / english language brochure advertising the companies, a networking reception prior to the event, a briefing meeting in Rio to prepare participants, logistical support (transport, accommodation, translation and administerial assistance), exhibiting support (graphic production, lounge facilities, meeting room facilities, display areas for visiting companies) and market development support via UKTI’s OMIS programme and the EIC, SDI and British Council’s representatives based in Brasil and the UK.
Companies in the UK Group were on the whole successful. Reports show that in addition to at least one onsite order, the UK Group is expecting a total of £7million worth of business over the next 12 months – this business as a result of exhibiting at Brasil Offshore.
“This has been an exceptional show, building upon EIC's strengths and our success of over $1 million sales since Brasil Offshore 2005. The Brasil oil and gas market is booming, with great opportunities and we anticipate accelerated growth.” Ted Littlechild, Louise McGowan, Electro Flow controls (exhibiting at Brasil Offshore).
“UKTI and EIC provided excellent information prior to the opening of the show. I was well prepared to target specific clients and sectors of the market. The organisation and logistics of the visit were also well prepared and the communication was excellent.” Sarah Hargrave, Rotech Subsea (exhibiting at Brasil Offshore).
“Exhibiting at Brasil Offshore in Macae is equally as beneficial as exhibiting at Rio Oil & Gas as you receive feedback from personnel who are operating your equipment in the field offshore.” Gavin Cleator, Balltec Ltd (exhibiting at Brasil Offshore).
“Visiting the market was essential in understanding better the regulation and customers needs.” A Kilpatrick, Cengar Ltd (visiting Brasil Offshore).
Over 50% of Brasil Offshore 2007 exhibitors have renewed their participation for the next edition in 2009. The venue show floor area will be extended with an additional 5,000m² due to the ever increasing space allocation demand.
Meanwhile, Rio Oil & Gas, to be held 15-18 September 2008 is booking now for the UK Group. This show regularly attracts over 800 exhibitors and 32,000 visitors on approximately 30,000m2 of space. For further information please contact the overseas events department events@eic-uk.com
