Scottish EIC Annual Golf Day
Friday 9th June 2006
Culcrieff Golf Course at Crieff Hydro Hotel
This years Scottish EIC Golf Day was held at the Crieff Hydro Hotel, which is set high in the Strathearn Valley with Ben Vorlich and Ben More to the West. Culcrieff golf course commands views which can only be described as breathtaking! This course was converted in early 2002 from a testing 9-hole to a superb and challenging 18-hole USGA layout.
The day started in the clubhouse where everyone met and formed their teams. To prepare themselves for the day everyone had tea or a coffee and a bacon roll. Although the day started off a little dull, the weather turned and provided us with a glorious sunny day.
The first team to tee off was Carpenter and Paterson at 10am, at about 11am they arrived at the 10th tee for a much welcomed refreshment thanks to Weatherford Pipeline and Specialty Services who sponsored the refreshments
The Prosafe team (the only two person team!) picked up first prize with 78 points. Their team included Lillian Duthie and John Watson. The team prize was a round of golf for 3 at Gleneagles, which was very kindly donated by NRL Ltd. How they are going to decide who the third person would be I don’t know! Prizes were also kindly donated by Mitsui Babcock Energy Limited.
Lillian Duthie also won best individual prize with an individual score of 40. She picked up the Chairman’s Annual Quaiche, which was presented by Tom Mowbray EIC Vice President (Council Official). She will hold this for the term of 1 year. She also picked up a keepsake trophy, which was kindly sponsored by Mitsui Babcock Energy Limited who also donated a bottle of whisky and a crystal glass as a best individual winner prize.
The longest drive prize went to Chris Bond of NRL and the nearest the pin went to Jim Taylor of NRL. They both received a keepsake trophy. Prizes were once again donated by Mitsui Babcock Energy Limited.
The other teams playing in this tournament included BEL Valves, DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary UK LLP Ltd, CBISS Ltd, Stapleton International Ltd and Ultra SML Technologies Ltd.
We would like to thank all the member companies that took part this year. We look forward to seeing you all again next year.
