Scottish EIC Annual Golf Day
Thursday 21st June 2007
Cruden Bay Golf Course
This year’s Scottish EIC Golf Day was held at Cruden Bay Golf Club. This very well renowned golf course is set against a backdrop of subtly contoured greens and panoramic coastal views. In 2006 Cruden Bay golf course was placed at No 52 in the world by "Golf Magazine". With this kind of reputation this year’s golf day promised to be a popular one. With 54 booked and a waiting list it certainly was.
The day started in the clubhouse where everyone collected their score cards and goody bags. Thanks to the gold sponsors of the day, Emerson Process Management, we were able to provide substantial goody bags. To prepare themselves for the day everyone had tea or coffee and a bacon roll. There was some fog but this did not cloud anyone’s spirits and everyone was keen to get going.
The first team to tee off was NRL shortly followed by Weatherford P&SS Ltd. With thanks to the official starter Dave Singleton from Cruden Bay Golf Club, who briefed and started all the teams off, the day went smoothly and everyone teed off on time.
Carpenter and Patterson picked up the first prize with 36 points. Their team included Richard McDonald, Patrick Wildblood and Scott Grieve. The team prize was a round of golf for three which was once again very kindly donated by NRL. They also each received a Cruden Bay score card wallet.
Schlumberger picked up the second prize with 32 points. Their team included Craig McGinnis, Doug McLeod and Alistair Boyd. They each received a golf club cover.
Scott Grieve of PSN won best individual prize with a score of 41 points from an 11 handicap. Unfortunately he had to leave before the end but his host for the day Steve Lewis of Carpenter and Paterson was there to pick up the Chairman’s Annual Quaiche. He will hold this for the term of one year. He also picked up a keepsake trophy and a bottle of whisky.
The longest drive went to Patrick Wildblood of Carpenter and Paterson; he won a golf club which was donated by Stapleton International. The nearest to the pin went to Alan Combe of NRL who won a golf club bag which was donated by Carpenter and Patterson. They both also received a keepsake trophy. The other teams playing in the tournament were Emerson Process Management, Palmers Ltd, Orion Engineering Services Ltd, EM&I (UK) Limited, Digital Applications International Ltd, Bridon International Ltd, Schlumberger Information Solutions, Aker Kvaerner Offshore Partner, Maersk, Stapleton International Ltd, Groveley Detection Ltd and J P Kenny Caledonia Ltd.
The ‘Room for Improvement’ prize went to Chris Bromley of ICONICS UK, who received Schlumberger corporate goodies.
We would like to thank all the member companies that took part this year. We look forward to seeing you all again next year.
