A consortium led by Egypt’s Petrojet, in partnership with Italy’s Arkad, has secured a US$1.1bn engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and start-up (EPCCS) contract for phase two of Algeria's Hassi Bir Rekaiz oilfield development. The award was granted by operators Sonatrach and PTTEP.
Targeting completion within 39 months, the project scope encompasses a new central processing facility capable of handling 31,500 barrels per day. The consortium will also deliver a 217km pipeline network, gathering stations and vital installations for associated gas and water treatment.
This strategic expansion aims to significantly increase domestic crude production, reinforcing Algeria’s capacity to supply shifting global energy markets. Concurrently, Sonatrach and Petrojet are exploring a joint venture to localise the manufacturing of specialised static equipment within the country.
