UK-based cleantech firm Levidian has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Dana Gas to develop the Sharjah Graphene Park in the UAE. The initiative will establish local graphene production and support the future manufacturing of Levidian’s LOOP systems in the region.
The project will initially deploy LOOP technology - which uses microwave plasma to convert methane into hydrogen and high-quality graphene - to deliver around 15 tonnes of annual capacity. Initial investments for this first phase are expected to range between US$2m and US$5m, with the potential to exceed US$50m as industrial demand scales.
This partnership aligns with the UAE’s broader strategic pivot towards localising high-value materials and low-carbon technologies, aiming to create a regional supply base for sectors including construction, energy storage and advanced manufacturing.
