Qatargas has selected Saipem for a contract worth US$4.5bn concerning works at the North field project offshore Qatar. The contractor will be responsible for the engineering, procurement and installation (EPCI) of two natural gas compression complexes.
Activities will be carried out under the scope of the North Field Production Sustainability (NFPS) Compression Project, which is linked to the North Field Expansion (NFE) initiative.
The complexes will feature two fixed steel jacket compression platforms, interconnecting bridges, flare platforms, interface modules and living quarters.
Saipem has affirmed that the agreement is the largest single offshore contract (total value ever acquired by the company.
