Saipem has been awarded two new offshore contracts, worth up to US$1.1bn, for the Scarborough and Yellowtail projects in Australia and Guyana, respectively.
In Australia, the company will provide pipeline work on the Scarborough project for Woodside Energy. Saipem will be in charge of export trunkline coating and the installation of the pipe, which will connect the Scarborough offshore gas field to the onshore plant, Pluto Train 2.
Woodside has given Saipem notice to proceed (NTP), triggering this announcement.
Located in the Carnarvon Basin, offshore Western Australia, the export trunkline will run for 430km, with a 36”/32” diameter. The maximum water depth is 1,400m and the work includes fabrication and installation of line structures.
Offshore work will commence in the middle of 2023. Woodside intends to produce the first LNG cargo from Scarborough in 2026.
ExxonMobil subsidiary Esso Exploration and Production Guyana (EEPGL) has awarded Saipem the second contract for the Yellowtail development project in the Stabroek block offshore Guyana at a water depth of up to 1,800m.
The contract, which was subject to necessary government authorisations and investment approval, allows the start of initial engineering and procurement activities required to proceed as per the project programme.
The company will carry out the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) of the subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines (SURF) for the Yellowtail project.
