RWE has received planning permission from the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) for Nordseecluster B, the 900MW second phase of its 1.6GW offshore wind project in the German North Sea. This regulatory approval clears the way for the joint venture between RWE (51%) and Norges Bank Investment Management (49%) to commence offshore construction in 2027, with 60 turbines slated for deployment in 2028.
Once commercial operations begin in early 2029, the combined facility will generate approximately 6.5TWh of climate-friendly electricity annually. Work also continues on the 660MW first phase, which is targeting full grid connection by early 2027.
