TotalEnergies and Galp have officially outlined the development roadmap for their massive discoveries in Namibia's Orange Basin, confirming key technical specifications following high-level talks with the state. The partnership has solidified the concept for the Venus project (PEL 56), which will utilize a 160,000 barrel-per-day Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel with subsea tie-backs. The partners are now working to secure all necessary conditions to reach a Final Investment Decision (FID) in 2026.
Simultaneously, immediate activity is confirmed for the Mopane complex (PEL 83), where TotalEnergies is assuming operatorship. A three-well exploration and appraisal campaign is scheduled to commence this year to further define the resource base. The operators highlighted that these upcoming phases will require significant engagement with the local industry for skills development and employment, signaling upcoming contract opportunities for services and logistical support.
