Tech giant Meta has announced a landmark series of agreements with Vistra, TerraPower, and Oklo to secure up to 6.6 GW of nuclear capacity by 2035. This massive commitment is designed to power the company’s growing artificial intelligence infrastructure and data centers, positioning Meta as one of the largest corporate buyers of nuclear energy in US history. The deals encompass a strategic mix of long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) to extend the life of existing nuclear plants and significant funding to accelerate the deployment of next-generation advanced reactor technologies.
Under the terms of the agreements, Vistra will provide over 2 GW of capacity through 20-year PPAs from its Perry and Davis-Besse plants, ensuring their continued operation and supporting uprates. Simultaneously, Meta is backing the future of nuclear power through partnerships with TerraPower and Oklo. This includes funding for up to eight TerraPower Natrium reactors and support for Oklo’s 1.2 GW Aurora powerhouse campus in Ohio. These advanced projects are targeted for delivery between 2030 and 2035, signaling a major shift in how tech giants are financing the transition to 24/7 clean baseload power.
