Glenfarne Alaska LNG (Glenfarne) and Donlin Gold have signed a non-binding letter of intent (LOI) regarding natural gas supply and infrastructure development for the Donlin Gold mine. Under the terms of the LOI, Glenfarne will aim to supply up to 50MMcf/d of natural gas from the Alaska LNG pipeline to the mine, which is owned by NOVAGOLD and Paulson Advisers.
The collaboration includes plans for the construction of a 315-mile pipeline connecting Southcentral Alaska to the mine site in the southwest of the state. The agreement also covers the potential development of a power plant to support mining operations. Glenfarne is currently developing the Alaska LNG project in two phases, with the first phase focused on a pipeline to meet domestic energy needs.
