A new oil discovery has been made by Indonesia Energy Corporation (IEC) the Kruh onshore oil field in Sumatra. An oil-bearing interval was identified in the Kruh 28 well, the second of two back-to-back wells drilled at the block by the company this year.
Kruh 28’s total depth of 3,475 feet was reached on 16 September. About 135 feet of oil sands were found and IEC now expects to start production in November 2022.
The developer has also stated that the well’s reserve potential could also be higher than previously estimated due to the fact that the interval inspected in Kruh 28 was 6 feet thicker than original calculations.
Once Kruh 28 is operational, it will join other six producing wells on the Summatra Island operated by IEC.
