Dutch contractor Mammoet has successfully concluded heavy-lift and marine operations for the Munin topsides, a key component of Aker BP's Yggdrasil development in the Norwegian North Sea. Contracted by Aibel in late 2023, the complex logistical scope spanned fabrication yards in Thailand and Norway.
The campaign involved transporting a major utility module from Thailand to Aibel’s Haugesund facility. Due to shallow water conditions at the Norwegian quayside, Mammoet executed a delicate transshipment operation, transferring components to a smaller barge before moving them into the main assembly hall.
Following the precise mating of the utility and process modules, the completed 9,000-tonne topsides underwent final weighing and centre of gravity confirmation. In July, crews safely loaded the structure onto a transportation barge during a narrow tidal window. The unmanned processing platform is now prepared for offshore sailaway, targeting first production in 2027.
