QatarEnergy has started operations in two new solar power plants. With a combined photovoltaic generation capacity of 875MW, the facilities were built in the industrial cities of Mesaieed and Ras Laffan.
The conclusion of these projects raise Qatar's total solar power production capacity to 1.6GW. According to the developer, they reduce the emission of carbon dioxide by 4.7 million tonnes per year.
QatarEnergy is involved in all three operational solar power assets in the country. The fourth, 2GW Dukhan, should be online by 2030.
