The Welsh government has granted RWE planning consent for the Alwen Forest wind power project. To be built across Conwy and Denbighshire in north Wales, the 60MW wind farm is planned to feature nine turbines.
Depending on a positive final investment decision (FID), construction work could start in 2027.
According to RWE, once operational, Alwen Forest will generate enough energy to power 70,600 homes. Through a community benefit society in partnership with Community Energy Wales, it could also become RWE's first project in the country to include local ownership.
