Eni has announced that its Coral North floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) project has reached final investment decision (FID). To be built in north of Mozambique, off the coast of Cabo Delgado, Coral North FLNG is developed by Eni (50%) with partners CNPC (20%), Kogas, ENH and XRG (10% each).
According to Eni, the terminal will be responsible for putting in production gas volumes from the northern part of the Coral reservoir in Area 4, Rovuma Basin. Carol North's liquefaction capacity is planned to be 3.6 million tonnes per annum (MMtpa).
Coral North is Eni's second project in Mozambique and the world's second large-scale FLNG terminal to be installed in ultra-deep waters. Start-up is expected in 2028.
