Why Saudi Arabia?
Find out more about the Saudi Arabian market as well as the benefits of the trade delegation.
Saudi Arabia
The Middle Eastern Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) is 13th largest country in the world and has a population of nearly 34.7 million, with half of Saudis below age of 25 and more than three and a half million of whom live in the capital, Riyadh.
The country holds the world’s 2nd largest total oil proved reserves with more than 15% of the global share and the kingdom ranked as world largest crude exporter exporting an average of 10,2 million barrels per day that accounts for almost half of the country’s GDP.
Saudi Arabia’s economic development benefited and relied on the strong success of its oil industry for decades, but Riyadh has now entered a new era, ‘Vision 2030 Strategy’, that aims at strengthening its non-oil revenues, cutting public expenses, and tackling the challenges of its growing young population.
In June 2016, The Saudi Government approved the first executive program, the National Transformation Plan (NTP), to implement this Vision.
In the energy section of the NTP the oil and gas industry will keep a great share to play to the success of the plan, with a target set for oil production capacity at 12.5 million barrels per day until 2020, as well as to increase natural gas production to 185 bcm/y by 2020 and 238 bcm/y by 2030.
Saudi Arabia’s long-term goal is to further develop its crude reserves including the Marjan Oil Field expansion, Wafra Heavy oil EOR project, field development at the Rub AL-Khali (empty quarter), Safaniya oil field and Abu Safah Field expansion.
Saudi Arabia has heavily invested on various key downstream projects which include Yanbu COTC Complex, Jubail PDH and PP Complex and Petro Rabigh Refinery & Petrochemical Complex.
