05 June, 2020
Swedish multinational power company Vattenfall has commissioned the 260MW Berlin-Marzahn CCGT heat and power plant in Germany.
The facility, with an installed capacity of 230MW of heat and 260MW of electricity generation, was built by Siemens Gas and Power and will distribute output in the eastern parts of Berlin.
Powered by combined cycle gas turbines (CCGT), the plant is claimed to be one of the most efficient in Europe.
Approximately one million German homes will be powered by the plant, while offsetting 240,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year.
