TenneT launches partnership to design 2GW Dutch offshore grid connections
14 February, 2020
Dutch transmission system operator TenneT has launched an innovation partnership with its suppliers to deliver 2GW offshore grid connection systems for the Ijmuiden wind area offshore Netherlands.
With two 2GW links planned for the area, TenneT launched the design phase with ABB Power Grids, Siemens, GE’s Dutch Grid Solutions business, Consortium Global Energy Interconnection Research Institute and C-EPRI Electric Power, and China’s Xian Electric Engineering.
The five suppliers will develop the 2GW 525kV HCDC solution based on criteria set by TenneT.
Only one cable will be required for the solution, limiting the impact on the environment and surroundings.
