Siemens Energy and EnergyNest sign thermal energy storage partnership
26 June, 2020
Siemens Energy and EnergyNest have signed a long-term partnership agreement to develop thermal energy storage solutions using excess renewable electricity.
The parties will work together to develop industrialised, modularised, and standardised thermal energy storage solutions for Siemens Energy’s industrial customers.
EnergyNest’s proprietary thermal battery will be incorporated into Siemens Energy’s projects, while the two will also identify and execute joint customer projects.
One project under development, the Sloecentrale gas-fired power plant in the Netherlands, will aim to use excess renewable electricity to replace natural gas.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will see the two firms work towards a timeline of realising the first joint commercial projects within a year.
