Green Investment Group forms partnership to create UK solar and battery storage portfolio
29 June, 2020
Macquarie’s Green Investment Group (GIG) and Enso Energy are to partner on one of the UK’s largest subsidy-free solar and battery storage portfolios in the country.
The development of the initial 1GW of solar power across the UK has been submitted for planning approval.
According to both companies the combination of solar with battery storage technology will provide a more flexible output, address demand during peak periods, as well as providing auxiliary services and stability to the grid enabling increased levels of renewables on the system.
The solar farms expect to be backed by power purchase agreements (PPAs), providing predictably priced power to UK businesses.
