French utility company Engie has signed an agreement to sell a 49% equity interest in a 2,300MW US renewables portfolio to clean energy investor Hannon Armstrong.
1.8GW of onshore wind capacity and 5000MW of solar photovoltaic capacity will make up the portfolio when fully operational.
Hannon Armstrong will take immediate ownership of 49% of 663MW of commissioned wind projects under the agreement, with the remaining 1.6GW worth of projects being transferred to the partnership on commissioning.
The portfolio will contribute to Engie’s goal of delivering 9GW additional renewable capacity by 2021.
