Australian renewables sector doubles output in record year

Australia’s renewables sector has more than doubled its output over the last 12 months with 14.6GW of new renewables projects under construction with a combined value of US$20bn (£15.8bn).
The Clean Energy Council released the figures, which represents Australia’s solar, wind, energy efficiency, hydro, bioenergy, energy storage, geothermal and marine businesses.
According to the council there are more than 80 wind and solar forms under construction, and rooftop solar installations now feature on 2m homes.
13,000 jobs have been created as a result of the expansion, including 4,500 in Queensland, 3,800 in Victoria and 2,100 in New South Wales.
