WEC Energy Group has acquired a share of 80% in the Maple Flats Solar Energy Center in Illinois, United States, for US$360m. The solar project will have a total installed capacity of 250MW.
Maple Flats, a development by Invenergy, will be built in Clay County, covering an area of 1,500 acres with 800,000 solar modules.
Start-up should be reached in the facility by early 2024. Its output will be sold through a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with an unnamed company.
