The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has stated that construction of the 72-metre main roller compacted concrete (RCC) wall of the Hatta hydropower plant’s upper dam is now complete.
The company has also concluded construction of the upper dam’s 37-metre RCC side wall.
With this achievement, DEWA has achieved about 52.62% of total works planned for the project’s execution.
The Hatta pumped-storage hydroelectric power plant will have a production capacity of 250MW and storage capacity of 1,500MW. It has been designed to work for up to 80 years.
The facility is scheduled to start full operations in late 2024, after a total investment of up to 1.4 billion AED (over US$380m).
