The transport and installation contract of the EFGL wind farm’s three 10MW turbines has been secured by Maersk Supply Service. The pilot project, whose name stands for Eoliennes Flottantes du Golfe du Lion, is a floating offshore facility off the coast of Leucate.
The engineering, transport, delivery and installation of the turbines was granted by engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contractor Eiffage Métal. Maersk Supply will also handle related mooring systems.
Developed by an Ocean Winds-La Banque des Territoires, EFGL will generate enough power to energise 50,000 houses.
The equipment will be installed on semi-submersible units of third generation, Principal Power-produced WindFloat units.
EFGL should start operations in late 2023, after over 18 months of construction work.
