Vattenfall has been granted all development rights for its planned 980MW N-7.2 offshore wind farm in Germany. The plant will be installed on the North Sea, 85km off the Borkum island.
The project was acquired by Vattenfall in 2016, when it was still called Global Tech II and carried out by a Strabag-led joint venture, after the establishment of a new German offshore wind tendering scheme.
N-7.2’s capacity will be enough to deliver power equivalent to the demands of one million houses in Germany.
Start-up for the facility is scheduled for 2027.
