EIC’s North Sea Decarbonisation Conference Announces Agenda for 2022

Conference is held in London on 17 and 18 May at the Grand Connaught Rooms, and sessions cover issues ranging from offshore wind projects to electrification of North Sea

London, 11 May 2022 – The EIC, one of the world’s leading energy associations, has announced the full agenda of the second instalment of the North Sea Decarbonisation Conference (#NSDC2022), which features speakers from major UK and global energy companies and organisations.

The two-day event is held at the Grand Connaught Rooms in central London on 17 and 18 May 2022. Panellists from leading companies will shed light on decarbonisation efforts in the North Sea while also discussing business opportunities and challenges as well as technologies that are expected to thrive as the UK and Europe transition into zero-carbon future.

The EIC is organising #NSDC2022 in partnership with Agoria, IRO, and World Forum Offshore Wind.

Here is a list of #NSDC2022’s sessions:

  • Future of North Sea Wind Energy. With speakers from Vattenfall, RWE, ScottishPower Renewables, and Equinor, the session touches on upcoming offshore wind projects, efforts to control cost and drive efficiency, and supply chain challenges and opportunities.
  • Reinvention of Oil and Gas – the Decarbonisation Challenge. Featuring panellists from Mott MacDonlad, Capricorn, TotalEnergies, and Wärtsilä, this session poses questions about climate solutions oil and gas companies offer.
  • Hydrogen – Four Shades of Hydrogen. This session focuses on how existing North Sea infrastructure and expertise can be utilised in the hydrogen industry. Speakers are from Neptune, Honeywell, TNO, and Nel.
  • Electrification of the North Sea. Speakers from Equinor, Cerulean Winds, and ABB discuss developments and challenges related to linking oil and gas assets to renewable power.
  • Technology – is the North Sea Ready to Lead the Way in Clean Energy Technology? This session examines the role of established and developing technologies in achieving a net zero North Sea.
  • North Sea CCUS – the Future and Beyond. The panel discusses technologies in use in the carbon capture, usage, and storage (CCUS) industry, challenges, expected developments. Speakers come from Drax, Global CCS Institute, and Petrofac.
  • Investment for a Low Carbon Energy System – Policy and Financing Technology for a North Sea Future. The session features panellists from Siemens Energy, SGS, Wood, and Green Backers Investment Capital.
  • · Floating Offshore Wind – Storming into the Future. Speakers from Falck Renewables, Principle Power, and BlueFloat Energy will discuss floating offshore wind projects and supply chain opportunities in this area.
