Vestas has been contracted by Aluar Aluminio Argentino for the El Llano IV wind farm in Chubut, Argentina. The 81MW plant will feature 18 V150-4.5MW turbines, all supplied and installed by Vestas.
The equipment will be delivered in late 2022. The supplier has also agreed to a 20-year management service agreement, expected to start after production begins in the second half of 2023.
El Llano IV is part of a larger 246MW wind power complex that will power Aluar’s aluminium smelting facilities in Puerto Madryn.
The initiative is also related to Aluar’s efforts to comply to the Argentine government’s demands for large power consumers to be at least partially energised by renewable sources.
