Construction for Zenobē’s 50MW/100MWh battery energy storage project in North Lanarkshire, Scotland, has begun. This is the country’s first transmission-connected battery facility, which is located in Wishaw.
The project, announced in May 2021, has recently secured financial close with Santander UK, setting the start of operations for late 2022.
Fluence will supply Wishaw’s battery energy storage system (BESS) and H&MV has been chosen as the asset’s main designer and contractor. Centrica will provide multi-market optimisation services.
The Wishaw project is part of Zenobē’s £500 million investment package planned for new energy storage facilities.
