The China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) has announced that production has commenced at the Luda 5-2 oilfield, in Liaodong Bay, Bohai Sea. In total, 28 development wells (26 production and 2 water source wells) are planned for it.

The ongoing activities for Luda 5-2 are related to the field’s phase 1 project, which includes utilising the existing processing facilities of the Suizhong 36-1 field, as well as building a thermal recovery wellhead platform and a production adjective platform.

Luda 5-2 is expected to reach its peak production of 8,200 barrels of crude oil per day sometime in 2024. The CNOOC is the only owner of Luda 5-2.
