Canadian Solar has sold its 635MWp Jaíba V photovoltaic project to Brazilian renewable energy company VTRM.
Located in the northeastern Minas Gerais state, Jaíba V is in a late stage of development. It is scheduled to start construction in 2022 and achieve commercial operation in 2023.
The project is expected to generate enough clean electricity to power over 500,000 homes for a whole year.
It is estimated to generate clean electricity equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of over 500,000 households.
When completed, Jaíba V will become one of the largest solar projects in the country, covering an area of approximately 1,500 hectares.
