INPEX has agreed to acquire shares in two Dutch offshore wind farms from Diamond Generating Europe (DGE-NL), a subsidiary of Mitsubishi.
The agreement was signed by INPEX Renewable Energy Europe, the company's newly established renewable energy business in the UK.
According to the terms of the agreement, Inpex will acquire a 50% stake in 129MW Luchterduinen and a 15% stake in the 731.5MW Borssele III/IV offshore wind farm.
The Luchterduinen offshore wind farm, located 23km offshore town of Noordwijk, began commercial operations in September 2015.
The facility, which comprises 43 Vestas 3MW wind turbines, generates enough renewable energy to power approximately 150,000 households.
The Borssele III/IV offshore wind farm, which has 77 MHI Vestas V164 9.5MW wind turbines, is located 22km off the coast of Westkapelle City and has been in commercial operation since January 2021.
The project has the capacity to supply 825,000 households with renewable energy each year, which is equivalent to 2.3% of the total electricity demand in the Netherlands.
The completion of the transaction depends on the fulfilment of certain conditions, including the approval of the Dutch authorities and others.
