EIC’s UK Pavilion wins key accolade at ADIPEC

As more British businesses size up Middle East opportunities, one of the world’s largest energy shows returned to Abu Dhabi for the first time since 2019.

The UK Pavilion picked up the top prize for Best Pavilion at ADIPEC 2021, with 47 UK businesses showcasing some of the best of Britain in the energy sector.

The Energy Industries Council (EIC), long-time organiser of the UK Pavilion at ADIPEC 2021, is seeing rapidly growing interest from UK energy supply chain businesses in the region.

As EIC CEO Stuart Broadley says: “With COP28 recently announced to be hosted by the UAE in 2023, the strength of the UK-UAE relationship is sure to keep growing, and this wonderful recognition of the UK pavilion at ADIPEC will also help, I’m sure.”

After the award was announced, H.E. Dr Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and ADNOC Group CEO visited the UK pavilion to add his congratulations.

The UK Pavilion was officially inaugurated at the start of the week by Patrick Moody, the British Ambassador to the UAE, while Simon Penney, Her Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for the Middle East, also welcomed British businesses to EIC’s ADIPEC Networking Reception.

With companies wanting to take full advantage of the strong market rebound post-pandemic, EIC’s ADIPEC UK Pavilion for 2022 has already seen bookings surge and EIC is planning to grow the size of the pavilion by 50% next year to meet burgeoning exporting demand.

EIC data highlights that UAE’s total energy CAPEX market over the next five years, including oil & gas, renewables, nuclear and hydrogen, is expected to remain a key export target for the UK, with more than US$164bn in projects planned or underway, ranking it 2nd in the GCC region after Saudi Arabia.
