ExxonMobil and Hell announced another deep-water discovery in Guyana on the Stabroek block, Pinktail. Drilled by Noble Sam Croft in 1,810 metres of water, Pinktail well encountered 67 metres of net pay in a high-quality oil-bearing sandstone reservoir.
Unveiled as the 20th significant discovery in the block, the well is located approximately 35km southeast of the Liza Phase I development project, which began production in December 2019, and 6km southeast of Yellowtail-1.
ExxonMobil is the operator of the block, with a 45% stake, in partnership with Hess, with 30%, and China's CNOOC, with 25%.
So far, the partners have estimated 9bn boe of recoverable resource on Stabroek and Pinktail will add to that total.
