Ørsted and Microsoft Corporation have entered into an agreement for Microsoft to purchase energy from the Old 300 Solar Center in Fort Bend County, Texas.
Old 300 Solar Center is located on approximately 2,800 acres of privately owned land near the City of Needville in Fort Bend County, Texas. The project represents an investment of more than US$400m in the local community that will benefit landowners, schools and other community services via lease payments and property taxes.
“Microsoft has ambitious sustainability objectives for their Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, and we’re thrilled to support its targets,” said Vishal Kapadia, Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Ørsted Onshore. “Given the strong alignment in focus on emission reductions between our two organisations, I’m excited about our continued collaboration.”
