Following a final investment decision, Fluor Corporation and JGC Corporation have received the notice to proceed with phase two of the LNG Canada export facility. Located in Kitimat, British Columbia, the joint venture will deliver engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction and commissioning services.
The multibillion-dollar expansion will add a third storage tank and two new liquefaction trains to the site. Consequently, the plant's production capacity will double from 14mtpa to 28mtpa, strengthening the country's position in the global liquefied natural gas market.
Having successfully delivered the initial stage of the development, Fluor is scheduled to recognise its US$7.5bn share of the new contract during the third quarter of 2026. The original complex officially began commercial operations in June 2025.
