Belgian climate technology firm D-CRBN has selected global contractor Worley to deliver engineering services for a new renewable syngas demonstration plant in Antwerp.
The facility will utilise proprietary plasma technology, harnessing renewable electricity to convert carbon dioxide and biomethane into high-purity renewable syngas. This provides a lower-carbon feedstock to produce sustainable aviation fuels, circular plastics and green chemicals without relying on fossil resources.
Under the agreement, Worley will provide detailed plant design, safety assessments and cost optimisation studies to advance the development toward physical construction. This award extends an existing partnership, building upon earlier conceptual planning and scale-up modelling.
Designed with a modular framework for rapid deployment, the demonstration unit will produce 200 tonnes of renewable syngas annually. This phase will establish the engineering blueprint for future commercial-scale installations targeting an annual capacity of 10,000 tonnes.
