Global energy technology firm SLB has been awarded a seven-year contract by Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) under the Ahmadi Innovation Valley (AIV) initiative. This agreement marks SLB as the first technology partner selected for KOC’s flagship programme, which aims to address strategic upstream technical challenges through collaboration across industry and academia.
Under the contract, SLB will support nearly 100 technology projects focused on artificial intelligence (AI), industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) applications, reservoir management, production optimisation and water management. Furthermore, the company will establish a dedicated AIV facility in Kuwait to facilitate research and development; construction is slated to begin in 2026, with the facility expected to open in 2028. The award builds on an 85-year relationship, reinforcing Kuwait's long-term strategy to expand local technical capabilities and digital innovation within its energy sector.
