South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy has granted the Myeong Ryang offshore wind power project an electricity business licence (EBL). Developer Pacifico Energy Korea can now start the wind farm's permitting process.
To be built off the coast of Jindo County, the 420MW offshore power plant is part of a larger scheme planned by Pacifico, which also includes the 990MW Manho and the 1.8GW Jindo Baram projects.
Construction works for Myeong Ryang are expected in 2030, with start-up slated for late 2033.
